Dr. David Freedy
Dr. David Freedy is a recent graduate of the Ohio State University, where he was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in tuba performance in December of 2003. Prior to his doctoral studies, he earned his Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Artist Diploma all from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati in tuba performance. In addition to his past academic accomplishments, Dr. Freedy is the principal tubist with the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra (1993-present) as well as an associate member of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra (1999-present). Past honors include co-winner of the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference Jazz Improvisation competition (1995) and Phi Mu Alpha Student of the Year (College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, 1991).

Dr. Freedy is, as well, an accomplished blues and rock guitarist whose solo performances of personal compositions can be heard occasionally at varying venues in the Central Ohio area. Dr. Freedy cites Eric Johnson, Alex Lifeson, Pat Metheny, Steve Morse, Steve Vai, Edward Van Halen, and Stevie Ray Vaughan as all being influential in the ongoing development of his personal playing style.
